Although my academic research has been published in a peer-reviewed journal, it wasn't until the summer of 2020 that I felt compelled to write a story that is representative of my culture. CALL OF SILENCE is a YA dystopian fantasy that is set in a post-apocalyptic Appalachia. With Greco-Roman influences sprinkled throughout, the novel is truly a piece of my heart. It is my utmost goal to promote and highlight the beauty of Appalachia and its people.  Although it is often negatively depicted in mainstream society, Southern Appalachia has a rich culture that includes art, food, oral tradition, and the people's relationships with nature. Appalachian voices  are often underrepresented in YA fantasy, so I would love nothing more than to show readers that Appalachia is a place worthy to explore!
